New York Casinos are Reopening Next Week

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New York casinos are reopening on September 9. The reopening of casinos will restore thousands of jobs lost during the pandemic. Also, it would bring casino tax revenue to the state.

However, some people are wary about going to casinos due to coronavirus concerns. The reopening of racetrack-based video lottery terminal venues and casinos came after the Seneca Nation of Indians confirmed a second Niagara Falls casino worker tested positive for the virus. The casino reopened last June 18.

Tribal casinos in New York shut down their operations earlier in sporting. However, they reopened in June and July with various safety and health protocols implemented. Since then, there are two positive cases of coronavirus from Seneca Nation’s Niagara casino.

However, the patient didn’t require hospitalization and has fully recovered from the virus. They reported the second case this week.

Seneca Gaming Corp., the company operating the Seneca Nation casinos, told sports betting software reviews and news sites that the safety and health of their employees, guests, and their families are their top priority. Also, they wish their employee a fast recovery.

Also, the company said that the Erie County Department of Health is part of the case. Some people assumed that the worker lives in Erie County. However, the casino didn’t answer how many visitors were in contact with the infected employee. The casino said that that county health officials are responsible for the contact tracing.

The coronavirus pandemic made many people wanting to open a sportsbook. That way, players don’t need to go to a retail location to wager on sports. However, New York is lagging in the legalizing of sports betting. Thus, most bookies start their bookie business in other states.
